Today I got a nice postcard from Lithuania! The postcard shows the town hall of Kaunas. Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania and is also historically its economic, academic, and cultural center. It is also located near two rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris rivers. It spans an area of 157 square kilometres and a population of about 300,000 people. The card is an official Postcrossing card, LT-400792. Thanks Madeina!

Postcard from Lithuania!

Today I got a great postcard from Lithuania! The postcard features a map of the country's Baltic coastline and the views in the area. Lithuania is one of the three countries that face the Baltic sea. Of the three, it has the shortest coastline along the sea, with only 38 kilometres. Its main warm-water port is Klaipeda, which is situated by the Curonian lagoon. Used was a nice stamp issued in 2009 commemorating the Tall Ships' Races held at Klaipeda in 2009. Thanks Ieva!

Specifically, the card shows a view of the Old Town area of Vilnius, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is also the largest city of Lithuania and the second largest among the Baltic States. It has a population of about 540,000 people and was first mentioned as the country's capital during the early 1300's. Thanks Goda!
