Cover & Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a cool cover with a Gotochi postcard inside from Japan! The Gotochi postcard, which is shaped like a post box, is a postcard of the Tokyo Central Post Office. The post office is located on a recently renovated space at the JP Tower and it is right next to Tokyo Station. Its main windows are open for 10 hours every day of the year and a postage dispensing machine is available at all times. The Japan Post Bank is also headquartered here. Thanks Tomoko!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a cool postcard from Japan! The postcard shows a scene from the animated film Spirited Away. The film was written and directed by the popular Hayao Miyazaki and was produced by the iconic Studio Ghibli. It follows Chihiro Ogino, a ten year-old girl, who enters the spirit world while on a moving trip. Her parents are turned into pigs by a witch and she tries to find a way to free her family and get back to the human world. It is considered to be one of the best animated films of all time, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Film. It also became Japan's most successful movie and even overtook Titanic at the Japanese box office. Thanks Michelle!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a cool postcard from Japan! The postcard shows a scene in the Ise Grand Shrine. The Ise Grand Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Ise. It is dedicated to the goddess Ameterasu-ōmikami and the shrine is more commonly known as Jingū. The shrine is actually a large shrine complex with two main shrines. It is considered to be one of Shinto's holiest shrines and access is mostly restricted. The chief priest must come from the Japanese Imperial family. Postcard from Japan!
Today I received a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard shows the painting entitled "Actor Ichikawa Ebizō as Takemura Sadanoshin." It was made by the artist Tōshusai Sharaku, a ukiyo-e painter famous for his depictions of kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers. He is considered one of the greatest ukiyo-e painters. However, his career lasted only ten months after his work met some disapproval. The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks dad!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a cool postcard from Japan! The postcard shows the painting called "One Hundred Celebrated Places of Edo-Shower at Ohasi Bridge." It was made by the artist Utagawa Hiroshige in the Edo Period. Hiroshige was a ukiyo-e artist and is widely considered to be the last of the great masters of that style of painting. After his death, there was a decline in the traditional art. This particular painting is housed in the Tokyo National Museum. The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks dad!

Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard shows an interior view of the Sanjūsangen-dō temple in Kyoto, Japan. The temple is a Buddhist temple located in the Higashiyama District of the city. The name translates to the "hall with thirty three spaces between columns", which describes the exterior styling of the building. It was first built in 1164 and was rebuilt in 1226. On the card we see a row of Kannon statues, which are as tall as the average person. The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks dad!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard was made with an uncommon material that is similar to cloth. The edges are frayed and the texture is very soft. The postcard features traditional Japanese ukiyoe depicting geisha. Geisha are also known as geiko and geigi. They are Japanese female entertainers who are trained in performing classical dances and music. The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks dad!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard features the night view from the Umeda Sky Building. The Umeda Sky Building is located in Osaka City and is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It has two separate towers that connect at the uppermost level. On the card we see the Floating Garden Observatory, a rooftop observatory. The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks dad!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard features traditional art found in Kyoto's Nijō Castle. Nijō Castle covers 275,000 square meters and is known for its two concentric fortifications. Each contains a wall and a wide moat. The sliding doors and walls of Ninonmaru Palace, which is located between the two fortifications, were decorated by artists of the Kanō school. Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard shows a great view of Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto. It is located in eastern Kyoto and is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an independent Buddhist temple that was originally founded in 798. Its current structure was made in the 17th century and is unique because no nails were used in its construction. Its name translates to "clear water." The card was sent by my dad who was on vacation in Japan. Thanks Dad!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard features a Japanese Air Self-Defense Force fighter about to take off. The Japanese Air Self-Defense Force, typically abbreviated as the JASDF, is the aviation branch of the Japanese Self-Defense Force. Its main duties involve combat air patrols over Japanese territory and maintaining radar systems. It has about 45,000 personnel and 350 fighter aircraft. Thanks Miki!

Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a really cool postcard from Japan! The postcard features a nice illustration of the iconic Japanese monster Godzilla. Godzilla first appeared in Ishirō Honda's 1954 film Godzilla and has appeared in many different movies and media since then. He has been featured in two American films, with the most recent one released in 2014. 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of his first appearance. He is also known as the "King of the Monsters." Today I got a nice postcard from Japan! The postcard shows a street level view of the Akihabara Shopping Square in Tokyo, the country's capital. It is located in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo and became famous because of the electronic goods sold there. Today, it is a major shopping location for electronics, video games, anime, and manga. Postcard from Japan!
Today I got a beautiful postcard from Japan! The postcard shows cherry blossoms in Yamanashi Prefecture. Cherry blossoms are the flowers of the trees from the genus Prunus. They are a popular symbol of Japan and are also known as sakura. They can be seen in schools, offices, parks, and the like and their blooming is closely tracked.
