Postcard from Belgium!
Today I got a nice postcard from Belgium! The postcard shows a view in the city called Tongeren. It is a historic city in the Flemish region. It was once a Roman provincial capital and was called Aduatuca Tungrorum. On the card we see the basilica of the city, which was built in the 13th century. It houses an extensive collection of religious art and is also a good archaeological site. Thanks Laure!

Today I got a nice postcard from Belgium! The postcard shows a scene at St. Michael's bridge in Ghent. Ghent is a city in the Flemish region of the country and was once one of Europe's richest cities. It has an area of about 156 square kilometres and a population of 250,000 people. It is known for its annual festival, which attracts more than 2 million visitors. It is also known for its medieval architecture, which has remained intact throughout the centuries. Thanks Raquel!

Today I got a nice vintage postcard from Belgium! The postcard shows the St. Mary's Royal Church in Brussels. It is a Catholic parish church located in the municipality of Schaerbeek. It was completed in 1885 and received protected status in 1976. Of note are the stained glass windows created by Jean-Baptiste Capronnier. The card is an official Postcrossing card, NL-2648998. Thanks Casper!

Postcard from Belgium!
Today I got a nice postcard from Belgium! The postcard shows a nighttime aerial view of the sprawling Espace Léopold complex. The complex houses the parliament buildings of the European Parliament. It was first completed in 1995 and has since had many extensions. It is located in the eastern part of Brussels and it has 17 floors. Interestingly, it is not the official seat of the parliament, which is in Strasbourg. Since many other European institutions are in Brussels, this complex was built in order to have the parliament in closer proximity to the other institutions. Most of the activities are held here. Thanks Bonnie!

Today I got a nice postcard from Belgium! The card shows a view of The Atomium, an iconic building in the country's capital city, Brussels. The building was originally made for the 1958 Brussels World's Fair and was designed by architects André and Jean Polak. Its height is 102 metres and its top sphere provides a wide view of the city. It is considered to be one of Europe's most bizarre structures. A nice matching stamp was used! Thanks Bonnie!

Today I got a nice postcard from Belgium! The postcard shows multiple views of the town of Bruges, also known as Brugge in Dutch. It is the capital of the West Flanders province and is known for its canals and its port. It is sometimes called the "Venice of the North" and was once actually one of the world's major commercial centres. The city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A nice new Christmas stamp was used! Thanks Raquel!

Postcard from Brussels, Belgium!
Today I received a postcard from Belgium! It depicts a view of the Grand-Place in its capital, Brussels. Today, renovations are underway to make the it look more authentic and it is said that it can feel like you travelled back in time if you go around. The square is the city's most important tourist attraction and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
It also used to be the chocolate center in Europe back in the day. Belgian chocolates are world famous and this card was stamped with a very interesting stamp. The stamp, when smelled, smells like chocolate! If licked, it should also taste like chocolate, but that is something I'm unsure of trying. Unique nonetheless!
Thanks Orlin!
