Postcard from Mexico!

Today I got a nice postcard from Mexico! The postcard features an illustration of the Mexican revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata Salazar. Zapata was a prominent figure in the revolution and headed the peasant revolution in Morelos. Today, he is a popular national symbol and icon. He proposed novel land reforms that would redistribute lands to the peasants. Thanks Nat!

Mexico, officially known as the United Mexican States, is a country in North America covering an area of nearly two million square kilometres. Its population is 118 million people and its capital is Mexico City. It has 31 states, each with its own constitution, congress, and judiciary. Thanks Irene!

Postcard from Mexico!

Today I got a beautiful postcard from Mexico! The postcard shows a nice view of the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. Officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary of Mexico City, it is located by the Plaza de la Constitución in Mexico City. It is the largest and oldest cathedral on the continent and was constructed over a period of two centuries. It has served as an important venue for many centuries and is a testament to the country's colonial past. It was built on top of the Aztec's Templo Mayor and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico. Thanks Lando!

Postcard from Mexico!

Today I got a cool card from Mexico! The card shows an illustration of a Lucha Libre wrestler sitting by a car. The artist who made the illustration is Nancy Almazán. Unfortunately, the card arrived very damaged and the area around the stamp was torn. It must have traveled a lot! Thanks Martha!
