Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a beautiful panoramic postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows the Holy Trinity Column, which is located in the historic city of Olomouc. The sculpture, which was built in the early 18th century, was created as a Catholic monument to God. It took almost forty years to complete and is considered a prime example of Baroque art. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks Martina!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows a map of some nearby places in Brno. It shows biking trails to some small villages and other interesting sites nearby. Brno is the largest Moravian city in the country and the second largest in terms of population. It has a population of about 400,000 people and is the seat of the country's Supreme Court. Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows a scene at the popular Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague. Located in the Jewish Quarter, it was established in the early 15th century. While there are about 12,000 visible tombstones, it is estimated that there may be over 100,000 burials. This is because there are many different layers of tombs. The site was in use until the 17th century. The card is an official Postcrossing card, CZ-522374. Thanks Hanka!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows a nice view of the Church of the Holy Cross, one of the Czech Republic's many old Catholic churches. Used on the card was a special big stamp featuring a work by Alphonse Mucha. Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter who specialized in the Art Nouveau style. His most notable work is the Slav Epic. Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows two old panoramic views of Lidice, a village in the Czech Republic. The village as it stands today is actually located near the original village. The original village was destroyed during the Second World War as retribution for the assassination of a high-ranking Nazi official. The Lidice Memorial was made to remember the lives of innocent civilians that were lost. The postcard is an official Postcrossing card, CZ-491946. Thanks Dana!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a beautiful panoramic postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard features a panoramic view of Znojmo, a city located in the South Moravian Region. It was founded by King Ottokar I of Bohemia in the 13th century and is probably most known for the armistice signed there by Napoleon and Archduke Charles. The city's main attractions are the St. Nicholas Church and the Town Hall tower. Both feature Gothic architecture and are over 500 years old. The city currently covers an area of 66 square kilometres and has 34,000 residents. Nice stamps were used! Thanks Hana!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard features a night view of the town of Čáslav. Čáslav is located in the Central Bohemian Region of the country and was founded in 800 AD. It covers an area of about 26 square kilometres and has a population of 10,000 people. The Academy Award-winning director Miloš Forman was born here. Nice stamps were used! The card is an official Postcrossing card, CZ-423128. Thanks Martina!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a nice panoramic postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows all the different UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Czech Republic. All in all, there are twelve sites in the country. They are - the Gardens and Castle at Kroměříž, Historic Centre of Český Krumlov, Historic Centre of Prague, Historic Centre of Telč, Holašovice Historical Village Reservation, Holy Trinity Column in Olomouc, Jewish Quarter and St Procopius' Basilica in Třebíč, Kutná Hora: Historical Town Centre with the Church of St Barbara and the Cathedral of Our Lady at Sedlec, Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, Litomyšl Castle, Pilgrimage Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelená Hora, Tugendhat Villa in Brno. A nice 2013 motorcycle stamp was used and it was cancelled using a special Postcrossing postmark! Thanks Midal!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a beautiful panoramic postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows two scenes in the Pálava Protected Landscape Area. The area is a biosphere reserve located in the South Moravian region of the country. It features well-preserved steppe ecosystems and has many historic ruins and structures, including castle ruins. It is on the borer with Austria and covers 83 square kilometres. A nice car stamp featuring a Dusenberg was used! Thanks Lucie!

Postcard from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a beautiful panoramic postcard from the Czech Republic! The postcard shows a close-up view of the Prague astronomical clock, a popular landmark in Prague, the country's capital city. It was installed in 1410 and is mounted on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall. It is the oldest astronomical clock still working. It is famous for its unique design and its animated figurines. Used were a variety of beautiful stamps! Most notably, a Postcrossing-themed postmark was used. This unique postmark was only available for a week at the Prague post office. Thanks Michal!

Today I got a nice postcard from the Czech Republic! The card shows multiple views of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. The area is a cultural-natural complex spanning nearly 300,000 square kilometres. It has been called the "Garden of Europe" and it has two centres, the Valtice Castle and the Lednice Castle. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nice stamps were used! Thanks Liba!

Cover & Maxicards from the Czech Republic!

Today I got a beautiful cover with two nice maxicards inside from the Czech Republic! The cover features five nice colorful stamps. The maxicards features stamps from the series called Historic Means of Transport. The first stamp features the tugboat, which is used to push ships. Propeller steamboats, known as Péčko boats were used for this purpose for quite some time. The second stamp features a railcar called a Tatra 15/30. It has four seats and is an engine-driven draisine. It has a swivelling base, which allows it to turn 180 degrees. Thanks Ondrej!

Today I got a beautiful card from the Czech Republic! The card shows the beautiful Hluboká castle, which is located in Hluboká nad Vltavou. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic and its most current redesign was done in the 19th century to emulate the romantic style of Windsor Castle. Used was a nice stamp featuring a work by Alfons Mucha. Thanks Lucie!

Today I got a really cool card from the Czech Republic! It shows Aero cars in the museum at Rožmitál pod Třemšínem, a small town in the Czech Republic. Aero cars were Czechoslovak cars  made between 1929 and 1947. Used was a really nice stamp of a Mercedes Benz 540. Thank you Ann!

Today I got a great postcard from the Czech Republic! It shows multiple nice views of Karlovy Vary. Also used was a nice stamp of the scientist Gregor Mendel, most known for his work on genetics. Thank you Michaela!
