Cover from the USA!

Today I got a cool cover from the USA! The cover was sent from the Ochoppe Post Office, which is located in Ochopee, Florida. The post office is unique because it is the smallest post office in the USA. In fact, it only has room for one employee, its postmaster. It is a fully functioning post office that caters to the surrounding area. It was converted from a storage area to a post office in 1953 after a fire destroyed the previous post office. The post office has a special postmark which features its building.

Today I got a cool postcard from the USA! The postcard highlights Mickey Mouse and the city of Orlando, Florida. Walt Disney World is located near Orlando and was built in 1971 to complement Disneyland in California. It is currently the most visited vacation resort in the world, with about 52 million people visiting it annually. A nice Harry Potter stamp was used! Thanks Christa!

Postcard from the USA!

Today I got a nice postcard from the USA! The postcard shows a beautiful sunrise view of the Everglades National Park in the state of Florida. Unlike other US National Parks, which protect unique geographic features, Everglades National Park was created to protect its unique ecosystem. It is home to 36 threatened or protected species and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks Mischka!

Cover from Space!

Today I got a really cool cover from Space! The cover was made as a collaborative effort by the United States Postal Service and NASA. The cover was carried aboard STS-8, the eighth Space Shuttle flight. The cover is the first to feature postmarks indicating when it left for space and when it returned back to Earth. The postmark on the back of the cover shows where and when it returned, Edwards AFB on Sep. 5, 1983. The cover came with a very nice presentation folder with details about how the cover was made and the Space Shuttle flight itself.

Postcard from the USA!

Today I received an awesome postcard of the Space Shuttle Atlantis during lift-off. The craft is special because it was the last Space Shuttle to fly on July 8th, 2011. The card was sent from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where the Stennis Space Center is located. This is where the rockets are built and tested. Thanks creoledreamer!
