Postcard from Portugal!
Today I got a nice postcard from Portugal! The postcard shows a traditional Portuguese windmill. These windmills are unique because they are sounding windmills. They feature earthenware vessels that produce different sounds depending on the strength of the wind and the type of weather. These are primarily used for aesthetic purposes but are also used to notify the miller of any changes in wind or weather. The postcard is an official Postcrossing card, PT-366107. Thanks Rita!

Postcard from Portugal!
Today I got a nice postcard from Portugal! The postcard shows a scene at Fátima, which is located in the Portuguese Centro Region. Fátima is a civil parish that is most popularly associated with the Marian apparitions that occurred there in 1917. These apparitions were recognized by the Catholic Church and is the reason why many pilgrims go here. The parish has a population of about 11,500 people and it has an area of about 70 square kilometres. Thanks Miceu!

Postcard from Madeira!
Today I received a beautiful postcard from Madeira! The postcard shows a great night view of Funchal, the capital city of Madeira. Madeira is one of two autonomous regions of Portugal. It is located in the north Atlantic ocean, roughly 1,000 kilometres away from the Iberian Peninsula. It was first claimed by Portuguese explorers in 1419 and is considered to be the first disvoery of the age of Portuguese discovery. Thanks Elena!

Today I got a nice cart postcard from Portugal! The card shows a painting by Odilon Redon, who is a French symbolist painter. The painting shown is known as Saint John the Baptist or The Blue Tunic and it was made in 1892. Thanks Maria!

Postcard from Portugal!
Today I got a beautiful square card from Portugal! The card shows 17 beautiful castles in Portugal. The one on the lower right is the castle in Silves, where the sender is from. It was built in the 9th century by the Arabs. Used was a nice new Europa stamp featuring an illustration of a postal vehicle. The card is an official Postcrossing card, PT-316993. Thanks Manuel!

Today I got a cool card from Portugal! It shows people in traditional clothing in Minho, a northern region of Portugal which is near the border with Spain. They wear golden ornaments called filigiana and these are considered to be art. Thanks Joana!
