Postcard from Italy!

Today I got a nice postcard from Italy! It shows an aerial view of Stadio Luigi Ferraris, also known as the Marassi. It is one of the oldest football stadiums in Italy, having been constructed in 1911. It is located in Genoa and is also used for rugby matches and concerts. It has a capacity of 36,703 people and is named after a captain of Genoa C.F.C. The postcard is an official Postcrossing card, IT-311986. Thanks Julia!

Postcard from Italy!

Today I got a beautiful postcard from Italy! The postcard shows a sunset aerial view of Florence, one of Italy's major historic city's. On the card we see Palazzo Vecchio, the town hall. We also see the Arno river with its many famous bridges, including Ponte Vecchio. It was the only bridge not destroyed during World War II because it was considered to be too beautiful. Postcard from Italy!

Today I got a nice postcard from Italy! The postcard shows a view of of the Bridge of Sighs, which is located in the famous city of Venice. The Bridge of Sighs was built in 1602 and it connects the New Prison to the Doge's Palace. It got its name by being the last bridge that convicts passed before being imprisoned. Lord Byron said that they would sigh upon seeing the beautiful view of Venice for the last time. Thanks Olia!

Today I got a nice postcard from Italy! The card shows a view of Rosnano Solvay, which is in Tuscany, Italy. Seen here is the popular White Beaches, which is primarily made up of Limestone and Calcium chloride. The photograph was taken by the famous photographer Massimo Vitali in 1998. Postcard from Italy!

Today I got a beautiful postcard from Italy! The card shows the view from the Piazzale Michelangelo, a huge square located on top of a hill. In the middle of the square, we see a reproduction statue of Michelangelo's David. We also see the dome of the Sta. Maria Del Fiore Cathedral. Florence is a historic city with a population of about 370,000 people. It is the capital of the region of Tuscany. The card was postmarked in Florence on January 14, 2014. Thanks Alessandra!

Postcard from Italy!

Today I got a nice postcard from Italy! The card shows views of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, also more commonly known as San Siro. It is the home of famed Italian football teams A.C. Milan and F.C. Internazionale Milano. Its current capacity is around 80,000 people and it is a 5-star UEFA stadium. Used was a nice stamp of another famed team, Juventus! Thanks Giada!

Today I got a nice postcard from Italy! The card shows a beautiful view of Piazza del Duomo, which is located in Pisa, Tuscany. Considered one of the finest architectural complexes in the world, it includes the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, arhuably one of the most popular Italian structures in the world. The complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks Giada!

Today I got a nice card from Italy! The card shows Milan Cathedral. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan and it is dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente. It is the fifth largest cathedral in the world. Thanks Gosia!

Today I got a great card from Italy! The card shows the famous Grand Canal of Venice, one of the most popular cities in the world. Also seen is the Rialto Bridge, which is one of the four bridges that span the canal and the oldest of the four. The famous gondolas of Venice can also be seen. Thanks Edo!

The card was sent from the Vatican City, which is a small state within Rome, and stamps commemorating two Papal visits were used. The card was sent by Marysia from Poland who was on vacation there.
