Today I got a nice cover with a vintage postcard and a stamp inside from France! The card shows General John J. Pershing doing a salute in 1917 in France. General Pershing, who was also called "Black Jack", was the person who led the American forces in World War I. He was the only general to be promoted to General of the Armies during his own lifetime and was considered a mentor by many of the great generals who succeeded him. The vintage card was issued to French soldiers for correspondence with their family. Thanks Clarou!
