Today I received a great postcard from Kosovo! Kosovo, which declared itself an independent state in 2008, is officially known as the Republic of Kosovo. Before this period, it was placed under a United Nations transitional administration after the Kosovo War in 1999 and being given up to United Nations control by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Some countries still do not recognise its independence. On the card you see the famous Gračanica Monastery, which is a beautiful Serbian Orthodox Monastery. It was established by King Stefan Milutin in 1321 and is dedicated to the Holy Virgin. One of the stamps used is a United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo stamp from 2007. The card was sent by Sini from Finland who visited the monastery. Thank you so much Sini!
