Year of the Goat postcard with matching stamp. The Territory of Christmas Island is a territory of Australia and is located in the Indian Ocean. It has a population of about 2,000 people and it was named after the day it was discovered on. Its capital is Flying Fish Cove and they issue their own set of stamps. Thanks Don!

Postcard from Canada!

Today I got a cool postcard from Canada! The postcard shows the Flag of Canada proudly flying in the air. The postcard was issued by the Canada Post to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the flag. A matching preprinted stamp is also seen on the card. The flag, also sometimes known as the Maple Leaf, was designed by George Stanley. It was inspired the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada. The postcard is an official Postcrossing card, CA-509993. Thanks Nazar!

Postcard from China!

Today I got a nice postcard from China! The postcard shows a view of the Red Flag Canal. The canal is an irrigation canal located in Henan in China. The canal diverts water from the Zhang River and runs along the side of a cliff and through many tunnels. The main canal is 71 kilometres long and it sits near the borders of the provinces of Henan, Hebei, and Handan. It was built during China's Great Leap Forward and was made entirely with hand labour. Postcard from Switzerland!

Today I got a cool postcard from Switzerland! The postcard features a squadron of Swiss Air Force fighter jets with livery matching the red national flag of Switzerland. The Swiss Air Force was established in 1936 as a separate service and is headquartered in Dübendorf. Its main priority is the air defence of the country and its primary fighter planes are the F/A-18 Hornet and the F-5 Tiger. The force has 1,600 active duty personnel and its pilots are trained to carry out air operations from temporary air strips on highways. Postcard from China!

Today I got a nice postcard from China! The postcard features a view of the Mukden Palace, also known as the Shenyang Imperial Palace. The palace was constructed in 1625. It served as the imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty. It was the home of the first three emperors of the Qing Dynasty. Dazheng Hall is the earliest building in the palace. The card features a preprinted matching stamp. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The postcard is an official Postcrossing card, CN-1345345. Thanks Zhulihua!

Postcard from Canada!

Today I got a cool postcard from Canada! The Superman postcard, which was issued by Canada Post, features the iconic comic book superhero. Canada Post issued a series of stamps in 2013 commemorating the 75th anniversary of Superman. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938. He has since become the most popular comic book superhero of all time. The card features a matching preprinted stamp at the back, but the actual matching stamp was also applied on the front. Postcard from Hong Kong!

Today I got a cool postcard from Hong Kong! The postcard is a prepaid postcard with a 3D picture of the Lufengosaurus magnus, one of the Chinese Dinosaur's featured in a 2014 stamp series by Hong Kong Post. Lufengosaurus is a genus of dinosaur which lived in China during the Early Jurassic period. Fossils were first discovered in the early 20th century near Lufeng. It is estimated that L. magnus was about nine metres long and 1.7 metric tons heavy. A matching preprinted stamp is located in the back of the card and a matching postmark was applied. Thanks Jamie!

Postcard from Australia!

Today I got a nice postcard from Australia! The postcard features a rural Australian sunset view with a bird in the foreground. The image is one of the images from the Living Australian Photography Competition in 2011 which was conducted in celebration of Australia Day. Australia Day is the country's national day and is celebrated every January 26. It commemorates the first arrival of British ships in 1788 in New South Wales. Thanks Emily!

Today I got a nice postcard from China! The postcard shows a view of the Rocky Cave Temple at Gongyi. The temple is a historic temple from the Northern Wei Dynasty. Its most interesting feature is the thousands of Buddhas carved into the side of the hill. The card was issued by China's postal service and features a matching preprinted stamp. Thanks Mika!

Today I got a nice postcard from the USA! The postcard shows a scene from the popular animated film, Finding Nemo. The postcard, which was issued by the United States Postal Service as a part of the Mail a Smile series of cards, comes with a matching preprinted stamp. Finding Nemo, which was which was released in 2003, was directed by Andrew Stanton. It was produced by the popular Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Thanks Carol!

Maxicard from Australia!

Today I got a beautiful maxicard from Australia! The maxicard features a stamp and card which commemorate the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef system. It is located in the Coral Sea, near Queensland. It is considered to be one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is said to be the largest structure made by living organisms. The maxicard was first issued on August 20, 2013 and was postmarked at Cairns, Queensland. Thanks Alison!

Postcard from Canada!

Today I got a nice postcard from Canada! The card, which is a Postage Paid card issued by Canada Post, celebrates the Year of the Horse. The stamps were issued on January 31, 2014 and are part of a twelve year series celebrating the Lunar New Year. The card features a preprinted image of one of the two stamps issued. The gold stamp features a golden embossed horse while the other stamp features a red horse, both traditional Chinese colors. Thanks Emilia!

Today I got a great maxicard from Australia! The maxicard features a stamp commemorating the Royal Christening of HRH Prince George of Cambridge. Prince George is the son of Prince William and Duchess Catherine. He was born on July 22, 2013. He is currently third-in-line to succeed the current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who is his great-grandmother. Thanks Xue!

Postcard from the USA!

Today I got a cool postcard from the USA! The postcard features Spongebob SquarePants, a popular children's cartoon. The United States Postal Service, in partnership with Nickelodeon, launched an educational letter-writing campaign to get children into letter-writing. An undisclosed number of Spongebob MailPants themed postcards were given away for free which had preprinted First-Class Mail stamps. In addition to this, thirty mailboxes with a special Spongebob design were placed at different cities. Thanks Bailey!
