Today I got a great postcard from Namibia! The postcard shows a view of the Swakopmund Lighthouse. Swakopmund is a city on the western coast of Namibia and its name translates to "Mouth of the Swakop." It has a population of about 42,000 people and it covers an area of 193 square kilometres. It was originally founded as the main harbour for German South-West Africa and many of its inhabitants still speak German. The city has many examples of German colonial architecture. Thanks Irene!

Postcard from Namibia!
Today I got a great card from Namibia! The postcard features a scene with two gemsbok at Etosha National Park. Interestingly, the gemsbok still maintain a seasonal migration from east to west despite the park being fenced. Namibia, officially known as the Republic of Namibia, is a country in the western portion of southern Africa. It borders the Atlantic Ocean and it gained its independence from South Africa in 1990. Its capital city is Windhoek and it has a population of 2.1 million people. Nice stamps featuring birds were used! Thanks Irene!
