Today I got a nice postcard from Finland! The card features a winter view of Suomenlinna, a seafortress located off Helsinki, the country's capital. It was built in 1748 by the Swedish Crown to defend against Russian expansionism. In 1808, however, it surrendered to Russian forces during the Finnish War. On the card, Russian sandbanks and cannons are seen. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Thanks Arja!
