Postcard from Indonesia!

Today I got a cool postcard from Indonesia! The postcard shows an illustrated map of Indonesia's part in the Ring of Fire. The Ring of Fire is an area surrounding the Pacific Ocean that is characterized by a high number of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. It hosts about 75% of all active volcanoes and is also home to 90% of all earthquakes in the world. It occurs as a result of plate tectonics, which is very active in the area. Thanks Jennifer!
